Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
What is it?
This is a battery-operated monitor that is worn in a pouch around your waist and connected to a cuff wrapped around your upper arm. It will measure and record your blood pressure over a 24 hour period.
How is it done?
This monitor is programmed to measure and record your blood pressure every 30 minutes during the day and every 60 minutes overnight for 24 hours. You will document your daily activities and any symptoms you experience over this period. Upon return, data is uploaded, analyzed and reported by a cardiologist. The report is emailed to you and your referring Doctor. Please allow 30 minutes for this appointment.
What to wear
Wear a separate loose top as the monitor and cuff are worn under your sleeve and top.
Is there any preparation required?
Shower prior as you CANNOT get this monitor and cuff wet or remove them to shower. Your normal daily activities may be slightly restricted as you need to stop moving each time your BP is recorded.
